Who We Are:  The Frees Foundation is a Texas non-profit corporation operating as a private foundation under Internal Revenue Code Section 509(a) and a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3).

 

Who We Fund:  Religious, charitable, scientific and educational institutions which are qualified under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service [except certain supporting organizations that do not meet special IRS requirements to qualify as “functionally integrated” supporting organizations].

 

Vision Statement:  The vision of The Frees Foundation is to improve the quality of life, restore hope, bridge differences, promote understanding and, above all, contribute to the relief of human suffering.

 

Mission Statement:  The mission of The Frees Foundation is to assist vulnerable and underserved populations achieve self-sufficiency.

 

Areas of Interest:  Grants are awarded primarily in 4 areas:  community services, education, health and housing.

 

Giving Focus:  Emphasis will be given to organizations and programs that benefit women, children, youth and families.  A special priority will be given to international aid and emergency relief.

 

Geographic Preference:  Metropolitan Area of Houston, Texas and The State of Texas.

 

Grant Application Process:  To facilitate the grant process, please request an Initial Grant Application.  Once received, you will be informed within three to four weeks if your proposal seems to be within our giving focus.  We will then send you a formal application form to fill out and return to us.

 

Grant Application Deadlines:  September 1, 2009, March 1, 2010 & September 1,2010.  Funding from the foundation is not available until after January 1, 2010.                            

 

General Grant Restrictions:  Grants to individuals, to the arts, endowments, deficit financing, research grants, organizations limited by race or religion.
